My motivation in life has always been centered around helping others – ensuring people are genuinely cared for, whole-heartedly loved, and strongly supported.
I feel my generous spirit, a truly God-blessed gift, stemmed from my family moving around quite a bit throughout my childhood – I was always the new kid trying to find her way and gain a sense of acceptance. My journey molded me into a true empath, seeking to help and support those treated differently because of circumstances beyond their control – lack of financial resources, community support, or educational resources. My hope is to impact the lives of people in my reach, throughout the Storm community and far beyond.
I am an advocate for childhood development and mentorship. I firmly believe the youth will take the lessons they are instilled with, now and through the rest of their lives, which is why I remain closely connected to serving both children and the homeless communities.
Currently, I volunteer at Seattle Children’s, an organization working to discover cures for illnesses while channeling the inner-warrior spirit of their patients. I believe kids should feel like kids, despite hardship, circumstance, and sickness; all children deserve to have a childhood – one of the many reasons why I dedicate my time to Seattle Children’s, their mission, and their courageous patients.
I have also found a way to fuse my passion for volunteer work, helping the less fortunate, and my love for cooking through working with Hashtag Lunchbag. I help coordinate the production of hundreds of lunches to distribute to the local community. My heart was drawn to this small, yet powerful group of people wanting to make a difference across the country. Hashtag Lunchbag is genuine; a simple yet powerful concept keeping the less fortunate in the forefront of our minds.
As a 5th year WNBA player and current starter for the Seattle Storm, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be involved with the Storm Foundation, helping equip the youth with the skills, desire & confidence to reach their full potential. My personal mission closely mirrors The Storm Foundation – encouraging young girls to embrace the power to learn, lead, and live healthy, joyful lives. Helping others is something that comes second nature to me. I believe God provided me with this platform to help spread His love to others and inspire those who may not take the normal path in life.
